Biography

Welcome future Cardinals! My name is Travis Slooter and I am the Associate Director for Freshman Admissions. I joined the Cardinaly Family back in 2019 as a Regional Admissions Representative for the Mitten's west side, based in Grand Rapids, MI. I am now based on campus in Saginaw and oversee many of the operations within the Office of Admissions here at SVSU including financial aid, communications, and overseeing the transfer team. 

A little about me - when I am not at work I love to be outdoors. I enjoy fishing, camping, backpacking - and I try to golf. I earned my Bachelors of Science in Cultural Anthropology with a focus in Industrial Archaeology from Michigan Technological University. I earned my Masters Degree of Education from Grand Valley State University with a focus in College Student Affairs Leadership. I began my career in higher education back when I was a graduate assistant for two years at Grand Valley State Unviersity. I then graduated with my masters and headed off to the University of Michigan - Dearborn to be an Admissions Representative before joining SVSU's Admissions Team. I truly enjoy working with students and families, especially during their first year experience. As a first-generation student, I can completely understand how daunting that step can be and I am here to help if you have any questions.
