Biography

Lisa S. Tsay has been teaching philosophy since 2003 and worked as an information technology manager at CUNY Queens College before coming to Saginaw Valley State University. She earned her M.A. in Philosophy of Cognitive Science from National Chung Cheng University and Master of Philosophy from CUNY Graduate Center. She teaches philosophy courses in the traditional face-to-face, hybrid, and on-line setting, including introduction to philosophy, introduction to logic, introduction to ethics, knowledge, existence and value, engineering and computer ethics, introduction to oriental philosophy, modern logic, and symbolic logic. While working toward her Ph.D. in philosophy, she was involved in the CUNYfirst (Fully Integrated Resources and Services Tool) projects and later led a team to build a SharePoint Portal for Queens College. Her current research work focuses on rationality and fallacy, scholarship of teaching and learning, diversity, and online learning. In addition to her involvement with Faculty Learning Community, Lead Experience Program, and Canvas Pilot Group at SVSU, she also coordinates community-based projects and fundraising events for local non-profit organizations.
