Biography
Peter Brian Barry is Professor and Chair of the Philosophy Department at Saginaw Valley State University. Dr. Barry came to SVSU in 2005 after completing his Ph.D. in Philosophy at the University of Florida, having previously earned a Master's Degree in Philosophy at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and a Master's Degree in Applied Philosophy a Bowling Green State University. He is the author of Evil and Moral Psychology (Routledge, 2012) and The Fiction of Evil (Routledge 2016) as well as multiple peer-reviewed journal articles. He is the most recent of the Ruth and Ted Braun Fellowship (2014-17) at SVSU that is currently supporting his research.
Dr. Barry is a resident of the City of Saginaw and an outspoken advocate for social justice issues. He is volunteers as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for abused and neglected children in Saginaw County and he is active in the local arts community serving as Volunteer Coordinator for Saginaw's Lawn Chair Film Festival and serves on the Executive Board of the Court Street Theatre Association. He is also the Faculty Adviser for Cardinal Sins, SVSU's award-winning art and literary magazine.
