Dr. Hobart received her Ph.D. in Media and Information Studies from Michigan State University, her M.A. in Communication and Digital Media from Saginaw Valley State University, and her B.A. in Communication from Alma College. Her research focuses on video games and learning, and her work has been published in Cyberpsychology, Behavior, and Social Networking, Current Issues in Education, and Communication Teacher. She is currently researching the effect of avatars on the video game play experience. Dr. Hobart regularly teaches courses in media, technology, and communication theory.
