Dr. Tony Crachiola studied mathematics and French as an undergraduate at Wayne State University in Detroit and then continued on to obtain a Ph.D. in mathematics under the advisement of Lenny Makar-Limanov.  Dr. Crachiola's research lies on the algebraic side of affine algebraic geometry with a focus on cancellation problems and prime characteristic methods.  After completing his graduate studies, he spent one year at Loyola University New Orleans as a visiting assistant professor before joining the Department of Mathematical Sciences at Saginaw Valley State University in 2005.  Here he has had the pleasure to teach many different math courses, from MATH 081 to MATH 490.  After fourteen years on the faculty, including six years as chairperson of the Department of Mathematical Sciences and one year as acting assistant dean for the College of Science, Engineering and Technology, Dr. Crachiola joined the College of Science, Engineering and Technology full-time in 2019 as associate dean.
